Diversität ist das Wort der Stunde. Ob in der Politik, in Schulen oder der Modebranche. Seit vielen Jahren wird darüber diskutiert, kritisiert, analysiert, aber so richtig geändert zu haben, scheint sich nichts, oder? Aber was heißt das überhaupt: Diversität?
Jeder hat wohl eine eigene, ganz persönliche Interpretation dieses Begriffes und stellt sich etwas anderes darunter vor.
Wenn man die Bedeutung im Modekontext näher betrachtet, dann geht es im ersten Moment oftmals vor allem darum, Models aus verschiedenen Ländern in die Werbekampagnen zu inkludieren. Es geht also in erster Linie um Herkunft und Hautfarbe. Fragt man den Duden, dann geht es um weit mehr als „nur“ Herkunft.
Bei Diversität geht es um Verschiedenheit, um Gegensätzlichkeit. Faktoren wie Alter, Geschlecht, Religion oder Behinderungen spielen eine Rolle und machen Diversität zu dem, was sie ist: Vielfalt.
Warum Diversität so wichtig ist?

Ich denke, wir sind uns alle einig, dass es bei Mode nicht nur um den Verkauf von Kleidungsstücken geht, sondern auch um die Veranschaulichung der eigenen Identität. Mode ist eine wichtige Form des Selbstausdruckes, die es jedem erlaubt, kreativ zu werden und sich im eigenen Körper wohl zu fühlen.
Es geht also um Inklusion und vielfältige, authentische Repräsentation.
Als Unternehmen, das sich zur Aufgabe gemacht hat, seine Kund*Innen stets mit modernen und alltagsfreundlicher Mode auszustatten, sind wir in der Verantwortung, mit unserem Angebot, einen Schritt in die richtige Richtung zu machen und dem Diversitätsmangel entgegenzuwirken. Im Jahr 2022 sollte das zwar die Norm sein, ist es jedoch leider nicht. Die Durchschnittsgröße bei Damen in Österreich liegt bei 42, aber dennoch sind diese Größen zum Großteil unterrepräsentiert.
Um in unserem Unternehmen für mehr Sichtbarkeit zu sorgen, haben wir uns auf die Suche nach Models gemacht, die unsere Werte treffen und ein realistisches Frauenbild vermitteln. Bei unserer Suche sind wir unter anderem auf Bianca, besser bekannt unter dem Namen „Kurven und Kanten“, gestoßen. Bianca ist Model, Fotografin und selbsternannte Confidence-Aktivistin: Genau das, wonach wir gesucht haben. Auf ihrem Social-Media-Account zeigt sie, wie wunderschön Curvy-Mode ist. Und, dass sie vor allem eines ist: völlig normal. Denn die wenigsten Frauen tragen Konfektionsgröße 32. Umso paradoxer ist es, dass Größen zwischen 32 und 38 immer noch als Norm gelten. Völliger Quatsch, finden wir bei Susanne Ledermoden und möchten das natürlich auch nach außen vermitteln. Wir lieben Mode und alle Körper. Wir wollen Mode für jeden anbieten, denn Fashion ist für jeden da, der sich dafür interessiert.
